Job Title: IT Assistant

Job Summary:

The IT Assistant is responsible for providing general IT support for all SVT staff under the direction of the IT Director. This role involves working with end users to identify and deliver required PC service levels, providing training and support on computer operation and other issues, and installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with end users to identify and deliver required PC service levels.
  • Provide training and support to end users and staff on computer operation and other issues.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user workstation software and networking software products.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex PC problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, tickets, and/or e-mails regarding PC and/or hardware problems.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of all PC, monitors, keyboards, hard drives, printers, scanners, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Construct, install, and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.
  • Work with third-party support and equipment vendors as necessary.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Basic computer knowledge and experience with a variety of programs, either through formal education or self-teaching.
  • Proficient in MAC and PC operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of networking and IP addressing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent technical knowledge of network and PC hardware, including Microsoft & Apple platforms.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Extensive equipment support experience with PC's.
  • Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards.
  • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
  • Ability to conduct research into PC issues and products as required.
  • Working knowledge of social media, design, and web-based marketing.

Travel Requirements:

Travel as needed between Homer, Anchor Point, and Seldovia by car, plane, or boat.

Employment Requirements:

  • Background check.
  • FBI fingerprinting.
  • Pre-employment drug-testing.

Work Environment:

An individual in this position may be exposed to communicable diseases or hazards common to a healthcare setting, including but not limited to needle stick wounds, chemicals, and tuberculosis.
