About the Role

We are seeking compassionate and caring individuals to join our team as Companion Caregivers at FirstLight Home Care - Lansing, MI. As a Companion Caregiver, you will provide personalized support and assistance to seniors in their homes, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life.

Responsibilities
  • Companionship and Conversation: Engage with clients in meaningful conversations, providing emotional support and companionship.
  • Personal Care Assistance: Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and feeding.
  • Light Housekeeping: Perform light housekeeping tasks, including laundry and linen changing.
  • Meal Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritious meals for clients.
  • Medication Reminders: Provide reminders for clients to take their medications.
  • Transportation: Accompany clients to appointments and outings.
  • Training and Support: Assist family members in learning safe care techniques and provide ongoing support.
Requirements
  • Treatment of Clients: Treat clients with dignity and respect.
  • Interpretation of Care Plans: Interpret and implement client care plans.
  • Valid Driver's License: Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to changing situations.
  • Pet Tolerance: Tolerate small pets, such as dogs and cats.
  • Communication: Be available for communication regarding shift schedules, client updates, and emergencies.
  • Lifting Ability: Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with dementia patients and senior care is a plus, while experience with bedridden clients is a must.
