Veterinary ICU Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary ICU Assistant to join our team at Vets Pets. As a key member of our veterinary team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our critically ill patients.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the veterinary team in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to ICU patients.
- Maintain a clean and organized ICU environment, including cleaning kennels, changing bedding, and disinfecting surfaces.
- Prepare and organize equipment, supplies, and medications required for ICU procedures and treatments.
- Assist the veterinary team during specialized ICU procedures, such as venipuncture, arterial blood gas sampling, urinary catheterization, and wound management.
- Observe and report changes in patient behavior, appetite, or physical condition to the veterinary team.
- Aid in administering treatments, medications, and intravenous fluids as directed by the veterinary team.
- Accurately document patient information, treatments, and observations in medical records.
- Provide friendly and professional communication with pet owners, answering general inquiries, relaying messages, and providing updates on patient care as directed by the veterinary team.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a veterinary ICU or critical care setting, preferred.
- Strong understanding of ICU procedures, patient handling, and basic medical terminology.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with the veterinary team and pet owners in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Demonstrated care and empathy for canine and feline patients, providing comfort and reassurance to patients in distress.
