Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Transportation Planner to join our team in Raleigh, NC or Charlotte, NC. As a key member of our Transportation Development team, you will be responsible for leading transportation planning projects of varying size and scope, providing technical and management leadership, and collaborating with clients to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead transportation planning projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions that meet their goals and objectives.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation plans.
  • Conduct data analysis and research to inform transportation planning decisions and develop innovative solutions.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, presentations, and other materials to clients and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field from an accredited university.
  • AICP or PE Certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive transportation development experience, with at least 5 years of project management experience.
  • Knowledge and experience with NEPA (and NC equivalent), Section 4F, Section 6F, Section 106, Section 404, NCDOT Merger Process, including preparation of environmental compliance documents.
  • NCDOT and municipality client experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS, Microsoft Office (including MS Project) is required. Experience with MicroStation is helpful.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Facilitation skills with leading public engagement and stakeholder meetings.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail along with overall quality control and management.
  • Conscientious of project schedules (including Microsoft Project) and deadlines involving deliverables (including interim deadlines).
  • Ability to track individual project tasks and financial management of individual and overall project tasks.
  • Strong teamwork and project organization skills working on projects and with staff.
  • Willingness to participate in business development efforts.
