Position Overview:
The role of the Power Electronics Hardware Engineer is pivotal in the design and advancement of power electronic circuits essential for motor control systems in electric propulsion applications. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in the aerospace sector, contributing to the evolution of battery-powered aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop safe and efficient motor control power electronics tailored for electric propulsion systems.
  • Utilize advanced power electronic components, including SiC devices, to create high-performance motor control circuits.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in power electronics, ensuring the integration of cutting-edge technology and compliance with aerospace safety standards.
  • Conduct comprehensive design tasks, including writing specifications, performing simulations, and leading PCB layout processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software and mechanical engineers, to define system requirements and ensure product compliance.
  • Perform rigorous testing and validation of motor controllers, including thermal simulations to optimize performance.
  • Utilize Altium Designer for schematic design and PCB layout, ensuring manufacturing documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Support manufacturing partners in the assembly and testing of electronic components, ensuring adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in power electronics design and development.
  • Proficiency in utilizing SiC devices and conducting thermal simulations.
  • Experience with functional safety standards, particularly ISO 26262, within the aerospace context.
  • A willingness to collaborate across teams and travel as necessary for project requirements.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with microcontroller/DSP-based hardware for motor control.
  • Knowledge of electronics packaging and cooling techniques.
  • Familiarity with aviation testing standards such as DO-160G and DO-254.
  • Aerospace industry experience is a plus.
