Job Summary

The Special Service Paraprofessional will provide personal care and hygiene assistance, as well as instructional support to students with special needs. This role requires a cooperative working relationship with teachers and the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students.

Key Responsibilities

    • Observing and collecting data on students

  • Student Management
    • Providing personal care and hygiene assistance
    • Assisting with medicine regimen
    • Monitoring hallways and study halls
    • Maintaining on-task behavior and correcting minor behavioral problems
    • Escorting students to other classes
  • Clerical
    • Scheduling activities and copying materials
    • Operating media and maintaining equipment
    • Running errands and handling confidential records
Requirements
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent
  • Ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers
  • Consideration will be given to the following: ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form, various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness, and prior experience working with school-age children
