Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist RRT provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients, diagnosing, evaluating, treating, managing, and controlling cardiopulmonary system deficiencies or abnormalities within physician-prescribed guidelines. This role acts as a resource to CRT staff, participating in clinical projects and initiatives as designated by leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform respiratory care procedures in response to patient needs and physician orders, adhering to departmental policies and protocols.

  • Evaluate, monitor, and maintain patient care within established guidelines, seeking information from interdisciplinary team members as needed.

  • Communicate patient care plans to patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals, maintaining a team-focused approach.

  • Independently perform procedures, assessments, and interventions, participating in departmental or specialty care area projects and initiatives.

  • Support standardization and implementation of department protocols, policies, and procedures for patient care delivery.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and adjust respiratory care equipment and diagnostic equipment.

  • Develop and implement patient education plans related to respiratory disease and equipment.

  • Evaluate patient response to interventions, revising care plans as needed and reassessing changes.

  • Promote the profession of Respiratory Care, acting as a resource, consultant, and mentor to staff within the department and patient care areas.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a NBRC-approved Respiratory Therapist program, with verified education from an accredited institution.

  • Current State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.

  • Specific certifications as required (i.e., PALS, ACLS, NRP).
