Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist RRT provides advanced-level respiratory care to patients, diagnosing, evaluating, treating, managing, and controlling cardiopulmonary system deficiencies or abnormalities within physician-prescribed guidelines. This role acts as a resource to CRT staff, participating in special clinical projects or assignments as designated by leadership according to department needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs and physician orders, performing respiratory care procedures within the Scope of Practice of the Respiratory Care Department.
  • Evaluate, monitor, and maintain patient care within established guidelines, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Seek and evaluate information from the interdisciplinary team, including patient, family, physician, nursing, and support staff.
  • Plan patient care, using assessment information and critical thinking skills to assess respiratory status through physical exam, review of history and physical, and response to ordered therapies.
  • Communicate the patient care plan to the patient, family, physician, nursing, support staff, and others, maintaining a team focus.
  • Implement patient care, independently performing procedures, assessments, and interventions, participating in Clinical Program initiatives and processes, and monitoring outcomes.
  • Support department or specialty care area projects or programs as identified, standardizing and implementing department protocols, policies, and procedures for patient care delivery.
  • Maintain timely, accurate records and documentation to satisfy department, hospital, and legal requirements.
  • Evaluate patient response to interventions through review of achievement of goals, clinical outcomes, and patient and family satisfaction, revising the plan of care as indicated and reassessing changes as appropriate.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a NBRC-approved Respiratory Therapist program, with education obtained from an accredited institution.
  • Current State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Specific certifications as required (i.e., PALS, ACLS, NRP).
Work Environment

This role is located at Intermountain Health Spanish Fork Hospital, with a variable schedule and shifts. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
