Job Summary:

This position provides temporary coverage for the athletic trainer role, ensuring the continuity of services for student-athletes. The substitute athletic trainer works closely with the athletic team to prevent injuries and illnesses, recognize and evaluate injuries and illnesses, provide immediate care, and administer the healthcare system. The goal is to enable student-athletes to participate in practices and games following a sports-related injury. Additionally, the substitute athletic trainer is responsible for documenting the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of student-athletes, as well as communicating with school administrators, coaches, and parents regarding a student-athlete's participation status. The ideal candidate will hold a current 'License to Practice As An Athletic Trainer' (Commonwealth of Virginia or another state) and/or hold an Athletic Trainer certification through the BOC. Applicants will be required to attend an orientation session that includes a background screening (fingerprints and central registry).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide temporary coverage for the athletic trainer role
• Work with student-athletes to prevent injuries and illnesses
• Recognize and evaluate injuries and illnesses, providing immediate care
• Administer the healthcare system for student-athletes
• Document the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of student-athletes
• Communicate with school administrators, coaches, and parents regarding a student-athlete's participation status

Requirements:

• Current 'License to Practice As An Athletic Trainer' (Commonwealth of Virginia or another state)
• Athletic Trainer certification through the BOC
• Ability to work with student-athletes, school administrators, coaches, and parents

Pay Rate:
$28.15 per hour
