Omaha, Nebraska, United States OneWorld Community Health Centers Inc Full time
Position Overview

Empower Through Education

At OneWorld Community Health Centers, we recognize that enhancing health outcomes involves addressing critical social factors, including education. Our Learning Community Center of South Omaha (LCCSO) is dedicated to bridging the opportunity gap through initiatives in early childhood education, family involvement, and teacher preparation. Our mission is to significantly enhance educational results for families and children.

The role of the English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor at LCCSO is essential. This position focuses on delivering ESL instruction to groups of parents, catering to diverse levels of English proficiency and literacy. The ESL Instructor collaborates closely with the Instructional Manager to implement and support long-term strategies aimed at empowering parents to better assist their children's educational journeys.

We are offering two part-time positions: one primarily in the mornings, Monday through Friday, and the other mainly in the afternoons/evenings, Monday through Thursday.

Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  2. Bilingual proficiency in English and another language is preferred; basic Spanish skills are a plus.
  3. Certification in teaching English as a Second Language is mandatory (e.g., ESL Endorsement, TESOL/TEFL certificate); a State of Nebraska teaching certificate with public school experience is preferred.
  4. Ability to address the learning needs of diverse and non-traditional student populations.
  5. Exceptional personal and interpersonal communication skills.
  6. Familiarity with technology to enhance instructional delivery.
  7. Strong organizational and record-keeping abilities.

While ESL instruction for parents is a vital component of the LCCSO, we also provide families from South Omaha with opportunities to acquire essential skills that positively impact children's success in elementary school and beyond. Parent classes include topics such as Circle of Security Parenting, GED preparation, nutritious cooking, and computer skills. Early childhood classes for young children are offered on-site during the parents' class times. The LCCSO is nationally recognized and is part of the Ascend at the Aspen Institute's network of quality programs based on the 2-Generation Approach. We have also received recognition from the White House as a Bright Spot in Hispanic Education. By becoming part of our organization, you will contribute significantly to a meaningful mission.

OneWorld Community Health Centers, Inc. offers a competitive benefits package, including Medical, Dental, and Life Insurance; Tuition Reimbursement; 401(k); access to a free fitness center, and more. If you are looking to apply your unique skills within a diverse, compassionate, and growing nonprofit that serves over 50,000 patients, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

You can make a significant impact – both in your life and in the lives of others.
