Job Overview

Position Summary:

Great Lakes Integrated Network, Inc. is looking for a pharmacy trainee to support the pharmacy division in managing quality reporting, addressing medication-related care gaps, and executing various daily responsibilities as assigned. The pharmacy trainee is a vital member of the team, contributing to patient education and counseling, as well as making therapeutic recommendations under the guidance of a licensed pharmacist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing quality incentive initiatives aimed at enhancing GLIN's performance in payer agreements. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, responsibilities include:
    • Providing adherence counseling to patients
    • Conducting chart reviews related to medication-based HEDIS/STAR measures
    • Advising therapy modifications to healthcare providers to optimize medication regimens
    • Educating patients on medication adjustments and offering solutions for associated issues
  • Perform comprehensive medication therapy reviews to identify intervention opportunities
  • Create drug information newsletters to relay pertinent practice updates to network providers
  • Assist with inquiries regarding drug information
  • Support data tracking for team performance
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications:

Education: Candidates must have completed at least one year of pharmacy education and hold a current, active NYS Pharmacist Intern license.

Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in a community pharmacy setting is preferred but not mandatory.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to apply clinical practice guidelines for making clinical recommendations and counseling patients on medication regimens
  • A foundational understanding of HEDIS and STAR quality measures is beneficial for this role, though not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred
  • Capability to work independently while managing multiple tasks

We provide an exceptional internship experience in a supportive work environment. This position may involve both onsite and remote work, as applicable. The working schedule is flexible, allowing for up to 40 hours per week during school breaks and between 8 to 10 hours per week during the academic semester.

Compensation: Pay ranges from $15.00 to $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and educational background.
