Position Overview:
Accountable for overseeing crew operations on-site, adhering to established schedules, standards, and protocols to ensure exceptional service quality, as directed by the Operations Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

Experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial landscaping is required.
Licenses or Certifications
  • A valid driver's license from the state of employment is highly preferred.
  • Pesticide License from the state of employment or the ability to obtain one within a year.
Specialized Skills
  • Proficient in safely operating commercial landscaping equipment and tools.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper pruning techniques, considering plant material and seasonal factors.
  • Basic understanding of fertilization principles for both turf and plants.
  • Working knowledge of herbicide applications and related practices.
  • General understanding of annuals installation and maintenance.
  • Capability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to inspire and lead team members.
  • Strong commitment to delivering high-quality work and exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps for navigation and job planning.
  • Basic familiarity with smartphone applications related to work tasks (e.g., work order entry, time tracking, communication with Area Manager).
  • Effective communication skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with crew members and the Area Manager.
  • Common sense approach to task execution.
  • Ability to handle standardized situations with occasional variables.

  • Regularly climbs trees exceeding 15 feet and performs work on branches or truck platforms.
  • Constantly required to talk, hear, see, sit, stand, and walk.

  • Frequent use of hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Regularly required to reach, bend, twist, stoop, crouch, climb, and balance on narrow and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Regularly works with mechanical objects and outdoors in various weather conditions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understand and implement job specifications for each site.
  • Assign daily tasks to crew members and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Perform landscape maintenance tasks, including mowing, edging, blowing, bed grooming, pruning, fertilizing, and leaf collection.
  • Effectively execute the seasonal operations calendar.
  • Regularly monitor sites for quality and provide feedback to crews for performance improvement. Communicate ongoing concerns to the area manager.
  • Oversee minor enhancement projects executed at the crew level.
  • Complete daily paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Identify equipment operation issues and communicate repair needs to shop personnel.
  • Supervise the safe loading and unloading of equipment.
  • Assist the Area Manager with initial and ongoing crew training, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of landscape maintenance tasks that lead to excellent performance and opportunities for advancement.
  • Evaluate employee skill levels and work behaviors, providing recommendations to the Area Manager regarding professional development, performance evaluations, and promotional opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with the Area Manager, peers, and subordinates.
  • Perform minor irrigation repairs and maintenance, including setting and adjusting clocks and controllers.
  • Promote safe working conditions by reinforcing the company's "Culture of Safety," including bi-weekly safety meetings and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Conduct minor in-field maintenance and repairs of equipment.
  • Communicate discrepancies between budgeted hours and actual hours required for task completion.
