Position Summary:

Turner & Townsend is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical or MEP Estimator who can effectively fulfill client requirements through comprehensive cost management services.

The MEP Estimator will be responsible for delivering mechanical estimates and cost consulting for a variety of projects, including commercial, data center, industrial, and high-tech facilities.

While experience in mechanical construction estimating is essential, familiarity with electrical and plumbing estimating is also beneficial (MEP).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and present detailed cost estimates and planning.
  • Estimate costs at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Assist in feasibility studies and prepare procurement reports.
  • Oversee all procurement activities, including managing pre-qualification, creating bid lists, conducting bid analyses, and compiling contractual documents.
  • Engage in post-contract cost variance management and change control processes, referring significant changes to the line manager as necessary.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the cost checking and valuation processes.
  • Generate monthly post-contract cost reports and present findings to clients.
  • Contribute to value engineering efforts and negotiate final accounts.
  • Maintain communication with clients and other consultants throughout all project phases.
  • Provide leadership to the cost management team when required, ensuring accountability for all deliverables.
  • Identify opportunities for business development with existing clients and report these to the appropriate line manager, utilizing the marketing database.
  • Propose enhancements for cost management procedures, templates, and products, referring ideas to the appropriate line manager.
Qualifications:
  • Strong technical experience in all areas of cost management, including pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other relevant software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various construction procurement methods.
  • Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Familiarity with key aspects of business development.
  • Broad knowledge and experience across multiple industry sectors.
Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management with a Technical Focus, Quantity Surveying, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in commercial and high-tech real estate construction.
  • Proven experience in preparing large-scale mechanical cost estimates.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems as they relate to construction projects.
  • Construction experience with mechanical and plumbing systems is advantageous.
