Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse EMS Coordinator to join our dynamic Emergency Department team at HCA Florida Blake Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will provide clinical expertise to ensure all patients receive high-quality, efficient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for greeting and offloading all EMS arrivals during scheduled shifts
  • Meet Assumption of Care standards as set by HCA
  • Collaborate with EMS partners to create an environment of teamwork that supports improved outcomes and service
  • Assist in managing department flow through coordination with assigned Clinical Nurse Coordinator
  • Provide recommendations related to the EMS offloading process
  • Recommend and implement courses of action, including training and development of relief EMS RNs
  • Responsible for properly receiving patients and initiating patient care
  • Will properly hand off each patient to receiving RN for continuity of care
  • Function as a clinical resource for staff members and assist in necessary education of the nursing staff when not offloading EMS
  • Prepare and ensure equipment in the EMS offload area is functional
  • Participate in quarterly educational and training events with Hospital staff and EMS agencies
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a Critical Care or Emergency Department setting
  • Preferred prehospital work experience
  • Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred
  • Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred
  • Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • American Heart Association PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) and/or ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • Current NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer
  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills
