Position Overview

Work Schedule: This role requires attendance during term time only, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 4pm.

As a Library Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and delivering professional support services within the educational environment. This position involves collaboration with various staff members and the school community to achieve specific objectives related to school administration, operations, and educational programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize, categorize, and catalog incoming resources using the Library Management System.
  • Create descriptive lists of resources and manage accessioning procedures, including boxing, labeling, shelving, and maintaining loan records.
  • Perform essential tasks related to the library environment, including furniture arrangement, shelving, and maintaining books and periodicals.
  • Stay informed about children's literature to assist in selecting engaging and age-appropriate reading materials.
  • Design and implement displays and exhibitions to foster engagement within the library and school.
  • Support the execution of extracurricular activities, including themed events and community engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure that storage areas are kept clean, safe, and organized.
  • Label, cover, and sort books and resources in accordance with established procedures.
  • Oversee the management of library operations and budget in collaboration with relevant coordinators.
  • Provide training and support to students and staff as needed.
  • Facilitate small group reading sessions and supervise various projects.
  • Coordinate parent involvement and support school initiatives.
  • Assist in building strong connections with the local community.
