Your Role:
Are you a licensed educator with a passion for enhancing the lives of children facing developmental and behavioral challenges? We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented educator to join our team at Damar Charter Academy. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of educational tasks, including:
  • Establishing a positive learning environment.
  • Creating and engaging in activities that support the development of skills outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including academic, behavioral, communication, social, independence, and vocational skills.
Additionally, you will complete state assessments and other specific evaluations.

Your Impact:
As an Inclusive Education Specialist, you will:
  • Develop and implement standards-based IEPs and lesson plans.
  • Teach students to acquire essential academic, self-help, daily living, and social skills as outlined in their IEPs.
  • Complete reports on student progress and classroom performance.
  • Conduct and supervise recreational and life enrichment activities.
  • Provide tutoring in academic subjects as needed.
  • Participate in staff training programs to enhance skills.
  • Support the habilitation and training of students.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to all policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
  • A Bachelor's degree in education and a valid teaching license.
  • Preferred: Special Education license.
  • Experience in Special Education is desirable.
  • Ability to fulfill Highly Qualified status within three years.
  • A minimum age of 21, depending on program requirements.
  • A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets eligibility requirements.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and background screening.

Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Your role will require:
  • Sufficient physical ability to work in an educational setting.
  • Mobility to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry light to moderate weights (up to 35 lbs).
  • Normal vision and hearing capabilities.
