Position Overview:
We are currently seeking an Underwriting Assistant to provide essential support to our Binding Authority Underwriters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze documents such as application forms, inspection reports, and medical records to assess risk factors including financial status, age, occupation, and property condition.
- Review company records to ascertain the extent of insurance coverage on individual or related risks, evaluating potential loss scenarios.
- Collaborate with Binding Authority Underwriters on new and renewal underwriting processes, ensuring all necessary information is gathered, applications are completed accurately, and policies are issued in a timely manner.
- Issue and/or re-issue insurance certificates as required.
- Coordinate with various internal and external departments through phone, mail, and email to address inquiries, resolve issues, and follow up on pending matters.
- Assist in training new personnel, including processors and assistants, ensuring they understand procedures and the importance of accuracy in documentation.
- Maintain organized records by documenting all correspondence and attaching relevant information to the appropriate files in our systems.
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Strong telephone communication skills.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality at all times.
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in insurance or accounting-related fields.
- Possession of or progress towards a valid P&C license.
