Job Title: Principal Engineer, Structural Analysis

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer, Structural Analysis to join our team at RTX. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading the development of structural analysis models and simulations for commercial aircraft seating systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement finite element models (FEM) for commercial aircraft seating systems using CAE software such as Altair HyperMesh and MSC Patran.
  • Apply dynamic, static loads and boundary conditions to simulate critical aircraft emergency conditions, including 9G, 16G forward crash, and 14G vertical dive.
  • Evaluate results and output from FEA to drive design trades, optimizations, and final product configuration definitions.
  • Support airworthiness Compliance By Analysis (CBA) and justify reduction of full-scale destructive physical testing.
  • Actively participate in Kaizen and lean events to improve FEA standard work and achieve greater accuracy in predicting seating structural behavior.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in a role performing structural analysis using FEA tools.
  • Experience with fatigue analysis using FEA software and CAE software including HyperMesh, LSDYNA, and Nastran.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of CAE software and ability to translate actual problems to FEA models.
