Xavier University, a prestigious institution of higher learning, is seeking an experienced Plumbing Specialist to join its Physical Plant department. The successful candidate will work under general supervision to install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, fixtures, and appliances related to gas, air, water, drainage systems, and heating and cooling systems.
About the JobThe hours for this position are 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday. Key responsibilities include:
- Wearing personal protective equipment and adhering to established safety practices and procedures;
- Working with hand and power tools, meters, and test equipment, as well as interpreting drawings, blueprints, system descriptions, and technical literature;
- Troubleshooting plumbing-related issues, performing preventive maintenance, backflow preventer testing, and maintaining records of work performed;
- Completing routine and emergency work orders;
- Performing preventive maintenance and related duties as directed by the supervisor.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess at least five years of experience in plumbing, both in commercial and residential construction. A Backflow Tester license granted by the State of Ohio is also required, along with experience in performing preventative and predictive maintenance of building systems equipment.
Candidates should demonstrate basic computer skills to effectively communicate in writing, procure parts, and interact with the computerized maintenance management system. Additionally, they should be able to lift heavy loads (approximately 40 pounds) and work from ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lift devices.
A valid driver's license and a driving record deemed insurable under Xavier's policies, as well as an available personal vehicle, are also necessary.
Salary and BenefitsThe estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000-$75,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Xavier University offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
