Job Summary:

Springfield Technical Community College seeks a dedicated and experienced HVACR full-time faculty member to teach in the discipline and develop curricula in controls, heat, refrigeration, power plant operations, building management, heat pumps, and HVAC systems design.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and update curriculum materials to reflect the latest advancements in HVAC and refrigeration.
  • Provide hands-on laboratory instruction, ensuring students gain practical experience with industry-standard equipment and techniques.
  • Mentor and advise students on academic and career pathways in the field of HVAC and refrigeration.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement effective teaching strategies that support diverse learning styles.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with industry trends and educational practices.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum planning, and assessment activities.
  • Contribute to the college community through service on committees, student recruitment, and community outreach.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student success and retention.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of an A.S. Degree in Energy Systems Technology, HVACR, or related field required for an instructor position.
  • A minimum of a B.S. Degree in Energy Systems Technology, HVACR, or related field required for assistant professor.
  • Proven experience in HVACR, with a strong understanding of both theoretical concepts and practical applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and experience with Building Automation Technology.
  • College teaching experience (ideally at a community college).
  • Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Familiarity with online teaching platforms and tools.

Working Conditions:

Work is generally performed in a classroom or lab setting. Work involves a high activity level and pace, and competing time demands. Essential tasks require typing/keyboard skills, phone usage, and reading, speaking, and listening. Use office equipment and computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Balancing, crouching, grasping, pulling, reaching, and stooping may also be required.
