Job Overview

Luster National is seeking a skilled CEI Inspector I to provide Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CEI) services for transportation projects in the state of Georgia.

This is a future, long-term, onsite position located in the greater Atlanta, GA, area or potentially other areas around the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform independent complex inspections of roadways and structures, construction processes, and materials to ensure compliance with construction contracts.
  • Conduct moderately complex inspections or supervise other inspectors conducting routine and standardized inspections.
  • Inspect asphalt and concrete for acceptable materials and mix, pavement for proper spreading, rolling, depth, alignment, and compaction, and roadways and structures for conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Perform contract documentation duties, including field measurements of pay items and other Department required documentation.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1.5+ years' experience working as a CEI Inspector Aide.
  • Proficiency with computers (e.g., Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, internet, etc.).
  • Considerable knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematical functions, including geometry.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to take notes and prepare or review reports.
  • Ability to instruct other employees in proper work methods.
  • Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia Law.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work and maneuver equipment, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites.
  • Must have the ability to stoop, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to drive large pick-up trucks and/or trailers.
  • Must have the ability to use hands to operate field equipment.
  • Must have close, distance, and peripheral vision with normal auditory function.
Certifications
  • Passing scores on GDOT's Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, Basic Highway Plan Reading).
  • Passing scores on GDOT's Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests – Group 2 (Pavements, Bases, Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, Construction Erosion Control).
  • GDOT WECS.
  • GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.
  • GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control).
