Position Overview
The Clinical Engineering IT Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital's Clinical Engineering Department. This position involves managing production medical equipment IT systems and overseeing various projects related to Connectable & Connected Device Inventory (CDI). Responsibilities include:
- Providing technical expertise for client-driven integration projects.
- Configuring medical device networks and managing connected device inventories.
- Responding to service and repair requests, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with the Client Information Technology Department when necessary.
- Utilizing downtime plans and training to support operational workflows of integrated medical devices.
- Ensuring clinical equipment systems are accurately inventoried and integrated with relevant information systems.
Required Skills and Experience
- In-depth knowledge of medical device technology and healthcare networking protocols.
- Experience in maintaining and repairing a diverse range of medical equipment.
- Strong understanding of electronics, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and security standards.
- Ability to analyze test data and interpret schematic diagrams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Outlook.
Education and Qualifications
- A two-year Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology is required.
- An additional degree in Information Systems is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in Networking, Security, or SysAdmin are highly desirable.
- Prior experience in medical equipment support and service is essential.
- Formal training specific to clinical equipment makes/models is required.
- Expertise in computer operating systems and networking is necessary.
- Knowledge of HL7, DICOM, TCP/IP, and other communication standards is required.
- Understanding of computer and network security is a plus.
- Experience in project management is strongly preferred.
