Position Overview

The Clinical Engineering IT Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital's Clinical Engineering Department. This position involves managing production medical equipment IT systems and overseeing various projects related to Connectable & Connected Device Inventory (CDI). Responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical expertise for client-driven integration projects.
  • Configuring medical device networks and managing connected device inventories.
  • Responding to service and repair requests, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with the Client Information Technology Department when necessary.
  • Utilizing downtime plans and training to support operational workflows of integrated medical devices.
  • Ensuring clinical equipment systems are accurately inventoried and integrated with relevant information systems.

Required Skills and Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of medical device technology and healthcare networking protocols.
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing a diverse range of medical equipment.
  • Strong understanding of electronics, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and security standards.
  • Ability to analyze test data and interpret schematic diagrams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, and Outlook.

Education and Qualifications

  • A two-year Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in Electronics or Biomedical Equipment Technology is required.
  • An additional degree in Information Systems is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in Networking, Security, or SysAdmin are highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in medical equipment support and service is essential.
  • Formal training specific to clinical equipment makes/models is required.
  • Expertise in computer operating systems and networking is necessary.
  • Knowledge of HL7, DICOM, TCP/IP, and other communication standards is required.
  • Understanding of computer and network security is a plus.
  • Experience in project management is strongly preferred.
