Cybersecurity Specialist

**Job Overview**
The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Specialist to join their team at the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC). This role will be responsible for managing the base Communications Security Manager (COMSEC) accounts, ensuring the protection of information transmitted to and from the installation.
Salary: The estimated annual salary for this position is $86,962.00-$134,435.00, based on location and level of experience.
Job Description:
This position requires a strong understanding of Information Technology (IT) security principles and methods to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information system resources and information processed throughout a system's life cycle.
The successful candidate will serve as the COMSEC Manager for all cryptographic activities, including managing the Cryptographic Access Program (CAP), auditing and inventorying base and tenant unit COMSEC user material holdings, and developing and implementing communications security criteria and requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to implement COMSEC security policies and procedures to ensure protection of information transmitted to and from the installation.
- Ability to apply IT security principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information system resources and information processed throughout a system's life cycle.
- Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of COMSEC-related problems.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity laws, regulations, and guidelines related to securing personnel, facilities, and information, to include the requirements for handling, transporting, and protecting classified information.
- Knowledge of the principles, policies, and procedures involved in ensuring the security of communications services and data.

Other Requirements:
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- This is a Drug Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on a military or commercial aircraft.
- Recall to duty and overtime may be a requirement of this position.
