Job Summary

New Hope Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Cedar Park is seeking a qualified Licensed Vocational Nurse/Licensed Practical Nurse to join our healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care to our residents and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the total nursing activities during each worked shift
  • Provide total nursing care to residents in your assigned unit
  • Recognize significant changes in resident condition and take necessary action
  • Supervise nursing assistants and ensure all assignments are completed appropriately
  • Administer medications according to physician orders
  • Ensure comprehensive care plans are followed
  • Recommend changes in staff as needed
  • Conference with Director of Nursing to maintain staff performance
  • Administer treatments as ordered by physicians
  • Notify physicians of changes in resident status
  • Make rounds with physicians as needed
  • Transcribe physician orders
  • Order medications from pharmacy as needed
  • Provide accurate daily charting
  • Be aware of legal and ethical implications of your duty
  • Be courteous to residents and their families
  • Follow up on lab work
  • Know when to ask for help and who to ask
  • Abide by facility policies and ensure employees under your direction do the same
  • Supervise and document serving of prescribed diets and fluid intakes
  • Report persistent unresolved problems to physicians and/or Director of Nurses
  • Prepare and follow up on Accident and Incident Reports
  • Ensure drugs covered by the Controlled Substances Act are verified and counted each shift
  • Detect and correct situations that might injure a resident or employee
  • Ensure continuing promotion of resident physical and emotional health
  • Document non-compliance/refusal of treatment
Requirements
  • Graduate of a state-approved school of vocational or professional nursing
  • Current state license as a vocational or registered nurse
  • Ability to work well with others and overlook personal preferences
  • Use of initiative and good judgment
  • Awareness of the needs and desires of others
  • Ability to work well with the elderly and their special needs
