About the Role

The Engineering Manager is a key position within Exide Technologies, responsible for driving the development, support, and improvement of manufacturing processes for the plant. This individual will lead a team of Process and Continuous Improvement engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement capital expense plans and budgets to drive business growth and efficiency.
  • Oversee the realization and follow-up of approved projects, ensuring timely completion and effective resource allocation.
  • Direct and account for all lean and continuous improvement activities, promoting a culture of process excellence.
  • Provide technical support to other departments, leveraging expertise to drive business outcomes.
  • Coordinate projects with other departments, ensuring seamless collaboration and effective communication.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance team capabilities and drive business results.
  • Coach and develop each member of the engineering team, fostering growth and professional development.
  • Calculate factory capacity to meet production needs, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Improve reliability efforts, implementing key metrics and driving a systematic approach to reduce downtime and increase production throughput.
  • Serve as the Site Management of Change coordinator and ESG facilitator, ensuring compliance and effective implementation of business initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing engineering teams, with a proven track record of driving business results.
  • Understanding of manufacturing cost drivers and knowledge of continuous cost improvement processes.
  • Investigations and benchmarking activities with all departments to identify best practices and propose improvements.
  • Team building and teamwork activities to share, clarify, and track targets and results.
  • Experience setting and managing annual budgets, with a focus on cost estimation and approval.
  • Preparation of capital requests, recognizing benefits and risks, and managing cash out.
  • Knowledge of legal regulations and contractual relationships affecting performance and applications.
  • Proven knowledge and demonstrated skills in Project Management, with a structured approach to project leadership, status management, and oversight.
  • General technical knowledge in utilities, electronics, mechanical, chemical, pneumatic, hydraulics, and installations designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and metrics to create understanding, make sound decision-making, problem-solving, and manage performance and progress over time.
  • Skills in planning, organizing, and priority setting, including resource allocation and management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate, negotiate, make presentations, and report in English at a Business and Technical level.
