Job Summary

The Diversion Specialist role at Vision House is a critical position that requires a unique blend of persistence, listening, and research skills. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with families and individuals who are experiencing unstable housing or homelessness, providing them with the resources and support they need to achieve stability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with keeping call logs up to date on a daily basis
  • Partner with housing specialists to provide low-income permanent housing options for clients
  • Collaborate with the entry team to bring new families into the Vision House transitional housing program
  • Assist in the implementation and support of a new piloted stability program that extends current diversion services
  • Conduct trauma-informed diversion conversations with clients on active lists
  • Carry a caseload and check in with clients regularly
  • Input data into the system on a weekly basis
  • Build relationships with other resource providers
  • Attend monthly provider meetings and entry meetings
  • Assist with resource fairs and support family services teams with current resident resources
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a social service field or equivalent experience
  • Two years of direct social service or advocacy work, including assessing client needs and determining client benefit eligibility
  • Valid Washington State driver's license, good driving record, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Experience working with children and families who are at risk and in crisis
  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff in a participatory environment
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within 60 days of hire date
  • AIDS/HIV Certification within 60 days of hire date
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including up to 2 Saturdays a month
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Active Christian faith and ability to sign our Statement of Faith
  • Working knowledge of Christ-centered servant leadership
