Medical Support Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at the Cancer Center of Kansas. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinicians in a clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, promoting efficient patient flow and care.
- Perform clinic support tasks, including clerical duties, answering phones, and maintaining physician schedules.
- Support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
- Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Obtain necessary patient records as required by physicians prior to treatment or procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
- Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
- Perform other administrative duties as requested by supervisor or physician.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
- This is an entry-level position requiring 0-3 years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
