Custodial Services Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodial Services Associate to join our team at Cobb County Government. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and organization of our buildings and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide custodial services to county buildings, facilities, and parks, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and shampooing carpet and floor surfaces.
  • Clean, dust, and polish furniture, equipment, artwork, fixtures, surfaces, walls, wood paneling, window sills, trim, doors, cabinets, vents, and other surfaces.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including mirrors, and replenish soap products and paper products.
  • Clean and disinfect water fountains, telephones, and other public facilities.
  • Wash and clean windows and blinds.
  • Empty trash containers and recycling containers, replace trash liners, and dispose of trash from floor/ground areas.
  • Maintain building security by turning off lights, copiers, calculators, heat switches, and other office equipment not in use, unlocking/locking doors, and disarming/resetting security alarm systems.
  • Operate and utilize various equipment, tools, and supplies, including vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, buffing machines, mops, brooms, cleaning supplies, alarm systems, ladders, lawn mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, snow blowers, shovels, rakes, drills, saws, and mechanic tools.
  • Utilize precautionary safety equipment and monitor work environments to ensure the safety of employees and other individuals.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels of equipment, tools, and supplies, initiate requests for new or replacement materials, and stock or distribute supply items.
  • Prepare and complete various forms, reports, correspondence, timesheets, vacation requests, and other documents, and forward or retain as appropriate.
  • Communicate via telephone and/or two-way radio, provide information and assistance, take and relay messages, and respond to requests for service or assistance.
  • Communicate with supervisors, employees, other departments, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
  • Escort contractors as needed and required by the Sheriff's Office.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, supplemented by one year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field.
  • Physical Abilities: Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
  • Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, taste, odor, depth texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
  • Environmental Factors: While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals, work near moving mechanical parts, and risk of electrical shock.
