Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Sonographer/RVT Specialist to join our team at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. As a Diagnostic Sonographer/RVT Specialist, you will be responsible for operating sonographic equipment, performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, vascular, small parts, ob-gyn, vascular, infant head/hip/spine, and interventional procedures.
  • Follow established departmental policy and use cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
  • Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history, and communicate findings to the Radiologist.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient and the health care team, recognizing the special nature of sonographic examinations and patient's needs.
  • Assist with the daily operations of the ultrasound department, including completing exam tracking/billing accurately on a daily basis and maintaining ultrasound equipment and work area.
  • Establish and maintain productive ethical working relationships with coworkers, referring providers and commercial agencies.
Requirements
  • Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
  • ARDMS certification within 18 months of hire.
  • BLS certification.
