Job SummaryWe are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist to join our team at McLeod Health. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of surgical procedures. Your expertise and attention to detail will be essential in maintaining a sterile environment and supporting the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a professional image and exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Work under the supervision and delegatory authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures.
- Ensure the availability and preparedness of OR rooms, supplies, and equipment needed to support efficient and effective perioperative processes.
- Assist with positioning and prepping according to the standards of practice and policies and procedures of the department and the hospital.
- Perform initial instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulator and perform additional counts as necessary.
- Assist with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field.
- Participate in the surgical site and patient verification during the time-out procedure.
- Required to maintain the sterile field to ensure patient/employee safety by maintaining the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
- Prepare and pass off specimen(s) as appropriate.
- Assist in lifting, turning, positioning, and preparing patients for surgical procedures, using proper body mechanics.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Assist other members of the team with terminal cleaning of the room.
- Use standard precautions and appropriate personal protective equipment when working around or handling hazardous substances, including blood and body fluids.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Program.
- Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
- BLS certification also required.
