Key Responsibilities
The primary duties of the Automation Controls Specialist encompass, but are not limited to:
- Designing and developing PLC programs
- Configuring and programming SCADA systems
- Creating HMI interfaces for research and development as well as process support
- Collaborating with engineers and external vendors
- Implementing control strategies aimed at process optimization
- Conducting testing and validation of control systems
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance
- Participating in commissioning and startup processes
- Documenting system designs and operational procedures
- Managing SQL databases for efficient data storage and retrieval
- Utilizing Python or similar scripting languages for automation and data analysis tasks
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for the Automation Controls Specialist position will possess the following qualifications:
- Experience and Education:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial controls and automation
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline
- Technical Proficiency:
- Familiarity with industrial control networks and field devices (including PLCs, HMIs, power supplies, drives, sensors, and actuators)
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (such as Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP)
- Experience with SCADA software platforms (Ignition preferred)
- Expertise in HMI development and interface design
- Understanding of regulatory standards and safety protocols in industrial automation
- Proficiency in SQL databases for data management
- Competence in Python programming for automation tasks
