Role Responsibilities and Requirements

Float Pool Nurse

The Registered Nurse delivers direct patient care in accordance with the Registered Nurse Practice Act.

Engages in therapeutic communication in daily activities. Ensures a safe and therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing challenges based on individual patient needs. The Registered Nurse formulates personalized patient care plans using an interdisciplinary approach. Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Provides care and coordinates efforts that align with the hospital's mission and vision.

In the charge nurse capacity, registered nurses oversee daily operations to guarantee high-quality patient care in a supportive environment. Assign staff based on patient needs, acuity, and the competencies of the team. Act as a role model and clinical resource for colleagues. Respond promptly to inquiries or follow-ups regarding physician, staff, or patient matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care requirements while executing physician orders.
  • Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
  • Document and communicate patient conditions effectively using computerized systems.
  • Educate patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary care team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current licensure with the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within six months of hire.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience is preferred.
