Job Summary

The Speech-Language Pathologist will play a vital role in supporting students' language and communication development. This position requires a strong background in speech-language pathology and the ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Language Development: Work with students one-on-one or in small groups to assist with language and communication development.
  • Consultation: Consult with the Director of Special Education regarding opportunities to incorporate speech and language strategies in classroom settings.
  • Coordination: Coordinate consultants and individual providers to support the needs of the speech and language caseload.
  • Professional Development: Remain knowledgeable of current trends and federal and state regulations in the field of speech-language pathology and special education to ensure compliance.
  • Reporting: Write speech and language progress reports and annual goals to ensure students are on track to reaching their objectives.
  • Leadership: Lead meetings for speech-only students; participate in annual IEP meetings, as needed.
  • Documentation: Write monthly progress report notes as required by Medicaid regulations - treatment ties directly to IEP goals/objectives; willingness to be trained on and use electronic encounter tracking system.
  • Supervision: If CCC-SLP certified, provide supervision to speech-language pathology teachers across the network.
  • Professional Maintenance: Keep certifications and licensures current.

Requirements
  • Mission Alignment: Believe in the mission and values of Crescent City Schools.
  • Past Success: Have demonstrated past success working with students in non-selective schools.
  • Credentials: Possess Louisiana State License in Speech Pathology; CCC-SLP preferred.
  • Experience: Have a minimum of one year of full-time professional speech-language pathology experience beyond the first year of postgraduate professional/employment experience.
  • Education: Have a Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in speech pathology, as specified under Speech Pathology guidelines and/or speech communication disorders.
Physical Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Work Environment: This is an in-person role.
