Maintenance Facility Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Facility professional to join our team at Sugar Foods Corporation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and control systems, and related components.
  • Repair and maintain various facilities systems, components, and structures, including building plumbing, low-voltage, and line voltage electric systems, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems, sprinkler systems, sensors, and related hardware and software.
  • Maintain induction and air handling units, clean and inspect all equipment, complete filter changes, lubricate, maintain, and service mechanical and refrigeration and/or cooling systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance of pool water sanitation and related pool environment equipment.
  • Size, lay out, and install waste, vent, and domestic water distribution systems, weld or fabricate plates, brackets, or needed devices.
  • Perform service and preventative maintenance on small, motorized equipment engines and on automotive vehicles, troubleshoot equipment problems, and identify when appropriate for external service provider to make repairs or perform warranty work.
  • Identify repair and maintenance projects requiring the assistance of contractors or vendors, participate in estimates and evaluations of project costs, monitor work of vendors or contractors, and assist in the review of new construction or remodel plans to assure compliance with facility maintenance standards.
  • Access and make all levels of adjustments to computerized control systems, such as for lighting or energy management systems, and troubleshoot control system problems.
  • Train less-skilled staff in facilities maintenance trades, assist FMS management to determine training needs for work group.
  • Perform electronic recordkeeping related to preventative maintenance and repair, so that FMS division makes the most efficient and effective use of computerized maintenance management and service request systems, track and close assigned work orders, and may monitor work orders assigned to others and assist them in managing work orders.
  • Maintain a broad working knowledge of materials, systems, and code requirements related to maintenance of college facilities.
  • Respond to college emergencies and closures, including adverse weather, to ensure that all facilities are protected and remain operational, assist with tasks required in preparing to open campuses after a closure, including snow and ice removal, systems and equipment checks, and start-up operations as assigned.
  • Know and understand all safety procedures of the college, train less-skilled staff on safety procedures related to FMS operations, and assist in structural safety inspections.
  • Operate a college vehicle and be responsible for its safe operation and reporting any observed maintenance needs.
  • Maintain appropriate records and reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various weather conditions. May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, noise, and temperature extremes. Position involves frequent bending, standing, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching below and above shoulders, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. while performing job duties. Wrist, hand, and finger dexterity is required to operate various equipment and materials.
