We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Diagnostician to join our team at the Waco Independent School District.
Job Summary:The Diagnostician will be responsible for implementing the special education appraisal process, assessing the educational, learning styles, and program needs of students referred to special education services, and providing diagnostic information to support the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities:- Receive student referrals and implement the evaluation process
- Select and administer formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for special education services
- Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student records, teachers, and other stakeholders
- Conduct classroom observations and personal interviews to gather data for assessment
- Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with interpretation of assessment data and IEP development
- Provide staff development training to assist school personnel in identifying and understanding students with disabilities
- Consult with parents and other stakeholders to enhance their understanding of the assessment process and student needs
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Assist in the selection of assessment materials and equipment
- Compile and maintain records and reports as required
- Master's degree
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Valid Texas educational diagnostician certificate
- Knowledge of diagnostic procedures, education of special education students, human development, and learning theories
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Three years of teaching experience
The Diagnostician will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong organizational and time management skills. Regular district-wide travel to multiple work locations may be required. Moderate lifting and carrying may be necessary, and the ability to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchairs or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities may be required.
