About the Position

At Joint Activities, we are seeking a highly skilled Paralegal Specialist to join our team. As a Paralegal Specialist, you will provide legal support to assist attorneys in areas of ethics, administrative and civil law, FOIA/PA issues. You will also compose correspondence, consolidate, and highlight information into a format which most effectively answers inquiries and prepares in final form for signature of the attorney.

  • Utilize knowledge management tools and systems to manage the command program; prepare project papers, staff reports, and organize briefings to brief the management team.
Requirements
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up 5% of the time.
Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Providing legal support to assist attorneys in areas of ethics, administrative and civil law, FOIA/PA issues. 2) Composing correspondence consolidating, and highlighting information into a format which most effectively answers inquiries and prepares in final form for signature of the attorney. 3) Utilizing knowledge management tools and systems to manage the command program; preparing project papers, staff reports, and organizing briefings to brief the management team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
