Position Overview:
The State of Montana is seeking a dedicated professional for the role of Director of Nursing at the Montana State Hospital. This facility is the sole public psychiatric institution in Montana, providing essential inpatient psychiatric care for adults experiencing severe mental health challenges.
Reporting Structure:
The Director of Nursing (DON) will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer of the Montana State Hospital, while also having matrix reporting responsibilities to the Chief Nursing Officer of the Healthcare Facilities Division within the Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS).
Key Responsibilities:
The DON will oversee, manage, and coordinate activities related to patient care services. This role is pivotal in leading and fostering the development and sustainability of professional nursing practices. The DON will act as a liaison, enhancing collaboration between nursing services and medical staff.
Strategic Contributions:
In collaboration with other hospital executives, the DON will help formulate hospital goals, policies, and procedures, actively participating in quality assurance and strategic planning initiatives.
Cultural Leadership:
The Director will engage nursing leaders and staff to cultivate a professional nursing culture that promotes high-quality patient care, improves clinical outcomes, and enhances patient experiences. The DON will ensure that the Nurse-Physician dyad model of inter-professional collaboration is effectively implemented at all levels.

Qualifications:
