Aquatics Director

Job Summary:
The Aquatics Director is a key member of the YMCA team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the aquatics program. This includes managing the department, developing and implementing programs, supervising staff, and building relationships with members and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of aquatic staff.
- Develop and oversee lifeguard training programs.
- Manage staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage.
- Supervise and coordinate skill checks.
- Ensure all staff certifications are up to date.
- Provide guidance and direction to the Tiger Shark Swim Coach.
- Facilitate regular meetings with the Aquatics Leadership Team.
Administrative Functions:
- Develop and manage the annual budget.
- Attend weekly Director meetings.
- Work with the Marketing Department to develop promotional materials.
Pool Maintenance and Safety:
- Work with the Facility Property Director to ensure pool maintenance standards are met.
- Ensure all risk management procedures are followed.
- Review safety checklists weekly.
General Responsibilities:
- Maintain the pool schedule.
- Assist with emergencies and serve as lead responder.
- Build relationships with members and stakeholders.
- Model and teach Y values in all interactions and training sessions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 2 years related aquatics experience preferred.
- CPR/AED, First Aid certifications must be maintained.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of organizational and supervisory skills required.
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to quickly learn other software programs.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
- High level of alertness, concentration, and initiative required.
