Job Summary:

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for performing all outpatient, emergency room, and inpatient registration functions, including upfront cash collections and insurance verification. This role ensures that patients meet financial requirements, provides general information to hospital users, patients, and families, and communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify insurance benefits and check for the necessity of pre-certification, authorization, and referral.
  • Perform medical necessity checks where needed.
  • Secure patient signatures for required hospital forms and collection of patient's financial responsibility when required.
  • Provide professional, quality customer service, timely resolution to customer problems, and coordination of services to all customers.
  • Communicate revenue cycle-related issues to patients, physicians, physician office staff, and other hospital colleagues.
  • Rotate into various areas of Patient Access and may work a variety of shifts.
Requirements:
  • HS diploma or equivalency.
  • Associate degree (Preferred).
  • Minimum 2-4 years of related experience in insurance verification and medical office/hospital customer service.
