Licensed Practical Nurse

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified health care professional to participate in patient care commensurate to Scope of Practice. This role requires a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism, with the ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients. The LPN will be responsible for performing basic nursing care to patients, collecting patient data, preparing and administering injections, and preparing patient records and files. The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree from an accredited school of practical nursing program and current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board.
Responsibilities:
- Perform basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures.
- Collect patient data such as vital signs; notes how the patient looks and acts, or responds to stimuli, and reports this information accordingly.
- Prepare and administer injections, performs routine tests, treats wounds, and changes bandages.
- Prepare patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
- Administer medications within scope of license, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
- Participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program required.
- Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) is required.
- May need IV certification.
Work Environment:
This role requires regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of basic nursing processes, and understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures is also required.
