Job Description

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will work under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or other specified healthcare professional to provide patient care commensurate to the Scope of Practice.

  • Additional Details: Shift differentials given for evenings, nights and weekends
Scope of Practice

The LPN will perform basic nursing care to patients by following established standards and procedures. This includes collecting patient data, preparing and administering injections, performing routine tests, treating wounds, and changing bandages. The LPN will also prepare patient records and files using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.

The LPN will administer medications within the scope of their license, monitor and document treatment progress and patient response. They will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care based on practice guidelines, standards of care, and federal/state laws and regulations.

The LPN will convey information to patients and families about health status, health maintenance, and management of acute and chronic conditions. They will participate in teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing program
  • Current/valid Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse from the state licensing board
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) is required If applicable - Must have additional specialty certifications May need IV certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year experience in a clinic or acute hospital nursing setting
  • One (1) year Specialty clinic experience

Physical Requirements

The LPN will need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. They will frequently interact with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require them to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. They will also need to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, and walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
