Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Level I

Job Summary:

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist Level I to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound procedures, providing exceptional patient care, and working collaboratively with our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Position patients and select technical factors and equipment to obtain optimal quality scans.
  • Operate portable ultrasound equipment for procedures as requested throughout the hospital.
  • Assist physicians with recommendations for obtaining optimal studies by suggesting technical factors for procedures.
  • Deliver patient care and maintain department standards of continued quality improvement.
  • Prepare ultrasound rooms with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Utilize phone etiquette and maintain patient confidentiality according to hospital policies.
  • Follow in-and-out patient identification policy and maintain timely patient flow.
  • Treat patients and customers with respect and compassion, and transport patients as needed.
  • Document department records, including inventories of supplies and patient statistics.
  • Maintain correct patient records and assemble daily patient schedules.
  • Prepare ultrasound rooms and operate Hospital Information Computer Systems as required.
  • Secure patient history for procedures and provide radiologists with adequate information.
  • Maintain positive guest relations and work closely with radiologists to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Comply with established safety standards and maintain annual CPR certification.
  • Use standard precautions and protect self from bodily fluid exposure.
  • Promote patient safety and report issues through established channels.
  • Attend mandatory in-services and meetings, and keep abreast of current ultrasound skills and developments.
  • Provide instruction and assistance as required by students or fellow technologists.

Requirements:

  • ARDMS Registry eligible.
  • ARDMS Registry to be successfully completed within first year of employment.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Ability to adjust to flexible hours and work odd hours, including late hours and on-call shifts.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, view small CRT screens, and perform lifting activities related to patients.
  • Exposed to radiation and able to operate portable equipment.
  • Ability to deal with extremely ill patients and communicate with patients.
  • Ability to adjust to flexible work hours, including weekends, holidays, and emergency call-backs.
  • Ability to participate in on-call program and available to department needs with minimal notice.
  • Ability to do light, medium, or heavy lifting.
