Job Summary

As a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality health care to patients with common psychiatric illnesses or symptoms. Your expertise will be essential in assessing, diagnosing, and formulating treatment plans for patients, as well as providing health maintenance services and referring patients for further treatment when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment and follow-up consultation for Primary Care MDs when mental health issues are present and beyond the scope of practice of primary care physicians.
  • Support smooth transition or stabilization of members discharged from mental health care back into primary care for follow-up and ongoing management.
  • Coordinate with the mental health department and represent the point of contact resource for primary care in coordination of care for members with co-occurring mental and physical illnesses.
  • Perform all other duties as required by licensure and the organization to assist in the care and management of members who have psychiatric issues or illnesses.
Requirements
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience providing services within a mental health clinic or agency.
  • PMHNP from an accredited program or equivalent requirements to meet State Licensure.
  • Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided) and Nurse Practitioner License (in the state where care is provided).
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMHNP from an accredited program.
