Job Title: Banquet Captain

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Banquet Captain to join our team at Thompson Hospitality. As a Banquet Captain, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of banquets and events, ensuring that every detail is perfect and that our guests have an exceptional experience.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Hire, train, and direct banquet staff to ensure seamless execution of events
  • Conduct roll calls and monthly meetings to maintain high standards of service
  • Develop and implement action plans to achieve performance goals
  • Supervise the setup of function rooms, including placement of linens, silver, china, and glassware
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen, service, beverage, convention services, and engineering staffs to ensure timely execution of events
  • Enter billing information into micro system to generate final guest checks
  • Process payroll for each event, including calculating hours worked and gratuity distribution

**Requirements:**

  • Four-year college degree preferred
  • At least two-year college degree required
  • At least ten years of experience in banquet/catering field preferred
  • Five years of experience in direct supervision required

**Safety Requirements:**

OSHA laws require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety.

**Specific Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:**

  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations
  • Ability to effectively supervise people

All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
