Job Summary

The Diabetes Educator/Clinical Dietitian is a vital member of the interdisciplinary team at Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS), providing comprehensive diabetes education and care to diverse populations. As a key player in the organization's diabetes management program, the individual will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of diabetes patients through individual, group, and follow-up instruction in healthcare aspects of diabetes management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) and standards of care to provide care management for patients with diabetes under the supervision and protocol of the organization's physicians within the scope of practice of the Registered Dietitian certification.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans to promote optimal diabetes self-management and improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in diabetes education and care.

Requirements

  • Education
    • Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in human nutrition, nutrition education, food and nutrition, dietetics, food systems management, or related field.
    • Preferred/Optional: Master's degree in human nutrition, nutrition education, food and nutrition, dietetics, food systems management, or related field.
  • Experience
    • Minimum Required: Demonstrated proficiency with calculations using fractions, decimals, and percentages.
    • Preferred/Optional: Three years' experience in clinical nutrition. Experience in diabetes self-management education and care.
  • Certifications/Licenses
    • Minimum Required:
      • State of Wisconsin Certified Dietitian certification.
      • Registered Dietitian (RD) credential awarded by the Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR).
      • Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification awarded by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) within 24 months of hire.
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
    • Preferred/Optional: Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) certification awarded by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) at time of hire.
