Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

What You Will Do In Your Role:

  • You will consistently implement the nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently provide safe nursing care to patients.
  • You will collaborate with the patient care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • You will demonstrate effective communication, confidence, and professionalism through active participation in unit and organizational activities.
  • You will exhibit teamwork, adaptability, and serve as a resource for the patient care team.
  • You will be accountable for delivering high-quality nursing care services and for promoting a positive image of the nursing profession.

What Qualifications You Will Need:

  • You should be a graduate of an accredited diploma, associate, or baccalaureate degree nursing program.
  • You should hold a Registered Nurse License to practice as a professional RN in the state of Texas or possess an Active Multi-State RN Compact License. If you have a Compact License, you will be required to obtain a Texas RN License within 90 days of hire.
  • You should have a current American Heart Association BLS Certification.
  • You should have a minimum of six months of clinical experience as a licensed RN in the specialty area of hire.
  • Approved for and maintains requirements of the MHS Nursing Clinical Excellence Program RN.

We are looking for experienced nurses to work in our Specialty Surgical Unit at Methodist Hospital. This dynamic unit offers staff members both professional development and personal job satisfaction. Our care delivery models include primary care and patient-focused care.

Our Specialty Surgical Progressive Care Unit features:

· 32 bed unit

· Patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4/5 (with PCT support)

· Care for a diverse range of post-surgical patients, including:

o Tracheal Esophageal Surgeries

o Colorectal Surgeries

o Tracheostomy

o Laryngectomy

o Thyroidectomy

o Breast Surgery

o Lung Surgery

o Complex abdominal procedures

o Urology

o Wound vacs

· Tele-capable unit

· Dedicated education unit where nursing students frequently complete clinical rotations
