The Caton Companies is seeking an experienced Grade Foreman for our roadway project in Chesterfield, Virginia. This is a full-time position with normal days and hours of work being Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with time provided for lunch, hours may vary. Work may be local or out of town in which case overnight stays are required. This position frequently requires long hours and weekend work. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, proven experience as a construction foreman, and a diploma in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter etc.) a plus. The Grade Foreman is responsible for organizing and leading a crew to safely and efficiently perform mass earthwork and excavating activities, balancing highway and road construction/reconstruction. The Foreperson works under the general direction of the Superintendent. Key responsibilities include coordinating construction work according to priorities and plans, planning, organizing and leading grading crew, producing schedules and monitoring attendance of crew, allocating general and daily responsibilities, coordinating tasks according to priorities and plans, scheduling aggregate material quantities and deliveries, determining trucking needs and scheduling truck, supervising and training workers and tradespeople, ensuring labor and other resources are adequate, guaranteeing all safety precautions and quality standards are met, supervising the use of machinery and equipment, monitoring expenditure and ensuring it remains within budget, resolving problems when they arise, and reporting on progress to managers, engineers etc. The Caton Companies offers an excellent working environment, working for a company that cares about your success, and working for a growing company with great benefits.
