Job Summary

The Paramedic is a key member of the CHI Saint Joseph Health team, responsible for providing high-quality emergency medical care to patients in the emergency department. This role requires a comprehensive approach to patient care, working collaboratively with RNs, physicians, and ancillary staff to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer BLS, PALS, ACLS, and critical care interventions under the supervision of attending physicians.
  • Perform triage, assessments, interventions, and patient education as needed.
  • Document patient care services in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Promote patient independence by establishing personal rapport and care goals, teaching patients and their families about condition, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support.
  • Clearly identify oneself as a licensed paramedic while operating.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to all CHI Saint Joseph Health policies, protocols, procedures, and regulations.
  • Contribute to professional growth and development by pursuing new levels of knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate from a nationally/state-approved accrediting paramedic program.
  • Unrestricted Kentucky Paramedic License.
  • Active BLS, ACLS, PALS American Heart Association certifications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to break down problems or tasks, scanning one's own knowledge and experience to identify causes and consequences of events.
  • Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times.
  • Adheres to organizational and department-specific safety standards and guidelines.
