The Paramedic is a key member of the CHI Saint Joseph Health team, responsible for providing high-quality emergency medical care to patients in the emergency department. This role requires a comprehensive approach to patient care, working collaboratively with RNs, physicians, and ancillary staff to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Administer BLS, PALS, ACLS, and critical care interventions under the supervision of attending physicians.
- Perform triage, assessments, interventions, and patient education as needed.
- Document patient care services in a timely and accurate manner.
- Promote patient independence by establishing personal rapport and care goals, teaching patients and their families about condition, medications, and self-care skills.
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support.
- Clearly identify oneself as a licensed paramedic while operating.
- Protect patients and employees by adhering to all CHI Saint Joseph Health policies, protocols, procedures, and regulations.
- Contribute to professional growth and development by pursuing new levels of knowledge and skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate from a nationally/state-approved accrediting paramedic program.
- Unrestricted Kentucky Paramedic License.
- Active BLS, ACLS, PALS American Heart Association certifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
- Ability to break down problems or tasks, scanning one's own knowledge and experience to identify causes and consequences of events.
- Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive data at all times.
- Adheres to organizational and department-specific safety standards and guidelines.
