Job Summary:

Eisenhower Health seeks a skilled Medication Authorization Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will be responsible for submitting requests for medication authorization to insurance companies and providing documentation to support complex infusion treatments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of injection and infusion orders.
  • Work with third-party insurance representatives and EMC clinical staff to process prior authorization requests for infusions and injections.
  • Obtain required clinical documentation for prior authorization, ensuring all needed clinical records are collected in order to have treatment authorized on the first attempt.
  • Review authorization queue for orders and make sure the schedule is clear for the coming days.
  • Observe payor contractual authorization requirements.
  • Utilize website portals and electronic options (when available) to submit authorization requests.
  • Work with management to identify payor trends, preferred medications, biosimilars and/or generics.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED or higher level degree.
  • Experience reviewing medication authorizations in a medical office; experience working with EMR systems; experience in oncology.
