We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Clarendon Animal Care North Arlington. As a key member of our Support Department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.
Responsibilities- Administer medications, assist with treatments, diagnostics, and monitoring, and perform various medical procedures as needed.
- Assist with anesthesia and surgery, including patient preparation, induction, maintenance, and recovery.
- Provide patient dental care, including ultrasonic cleaning and polishing, and assist with dental surgery.
- Position patients and assist with radiographs, and collect, prepare, and run or submit samples for requested tests.
- Prepare invoices, discharge instructions, and client informational tools, and communicate with clients regarding hospitalized patients.
- Teach and educate clients on at-home care procedures, and assist with reception and front desk duties as needed.
- Assist with training and mentoring new team members, and maintain inventory control and prepare prescriptions.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, and manipulate up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds with a coworker.
- Ability to endure sitting, standing, and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods.
- Ability to work in noisy conditions with sounds from animals and equipment.
- Ability to work with a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
- Good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.
